Description
A patio glider is bought for one motion: the slow horizontal travel that a rocking chair cannot deliver on a hard terrace. These two outdoor rocking glider chairs share that motion and differ mainly in how many people sit in it — a single lounge seat for a balcony or a poolside corner, and a two-seat glider bench for a terrace where two people talk. Both run on the same four-bar linkage, the same round powder-coated tube and the same open-weave mesh, so a hotel or a retail range can hold one specification and still furnish a whole outdoor area in two footprints.
Every outdoor rocking glider chair here is manufactured by Zhejiang Merry Smart Home Joint Stock Co., Ltd. in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, a furniture manufacturer and exporter with nearly 24 years in the trade. The factory runs OEM and ODM programmes for North American e-commerce brands and European chain hotels, works to an ISO 9001 quality management system, is audited under amfori BSCI and issues SGS test reports with the order.
For a buyer, the useful part is that the two models are not separate projects. Frame sections, glider arms, base runners, bolts and mesh are shared, so a container can be split between the single and the two-seat version without doubling the spare-parts list or the assembly instructions. The outdoor rocking glider chair is therefore a range decision rather than a single-SKU decision.
Key Features
Most of what separates a good outdoor rocking glider chair from a cheap one is mechanical rather than cosmetic, and these are the details worth checking on a sample.
- Gliding travel instead of an arc – Four pivoting swing arms, two on each side, hang the seat frame from a stationary base. The chair moves horizontally forward and back rather than tipping on curved rockers, so the sitter is never pushed out of the seat and the chair does not have to be repositioned after every movement.
- A base that stays where it is put – The lower frame is two rounded side runners tied together by horizontal cross-bracing, with moulded plastic glides at the contact points. The seat travels; the base does not creep across tile or decking.
- Round tube, powder-coated in-house – Frame sections are cut, welded and powder-coated before assembly, so the matte charcoal finish reads the same on the arms, the back frame and the base runners.
- Open-weave mesh sling – Seat and back are a fine, taut synthetic mesh stretched over the frame. It breathes in heat, drains after rain and stays usable without a cushion, which matters on pool decks where loose cushions disappear.
- Model A: solid seat, mesh back – The single glider pairs a padded black seat panel with a semi-transparent mesh back panel, giving firm support under the hips and airflow behind the shoulders.
- Model B: two defined seats – The bench runs one continuous mesh seat and back, divided by a central vertical frame bar into two separate panels, so two people sit in defined places instead of sliding toward each other.
- Armrests formed from the side frame – The arms are bent from the same tube as the side frame and curve from backrest to seat front. There is no separate arm component to work loose or to lose in packing.
- A blank logo patch on Model A – A rectangular patch sits on the upper right of the backrest, ready for a woven or printed private label without retooling the mesh panel.
- Bolted joints, replaceable parts – Connections use bright zinc-plated hex bolts. Flat-packed units assemble with a hex key, and a damaged frame section can be swapped rather than scrapping the whole chair.

Materials & Finish
- Frame tube: Round metal tube, joined by welding and then powder-coated. Coating runs on an overhead conveyor booth, which gives an even film across tube walls and weld seams rather than the thin patches that come from spray-can touch-up.
- Powder coat: Matte charcoal to near-black as standard. Volume orders can be matched to a RAL reference so the glider sits inside an existing outdoor palette.
- Mesh: PVC-coated polyester yarn woven into a fine open grid, stretched and fixed to the frame under tension. The open structure is what lets the seat dry after rain and keeps the back from feeling like a plastic sheet in direct sun.
- Seat panel (Model A): A padded panel under outdoor fabric, sewn in the factory's own sewing workshop, so cover and frame are matched on the same production line.
- Fasteners: Bright zinc-plated hex bolts at every pivot and frame joint, visible as small silver points against the dark finish.
- Feet: Moulded plastic glides on the base runners, which protect tile, stone and composite decking from metal-to-floor contact.
- Care: Rinse with water, use mild soap on marks, let the mesh air dry. Solvents, abrasive pads and pressure washers held close to the mesh will dull the weave and should be avoided.
Assembly & Installation
- Each outdoor rocking glider chair ships flat-packed: frame sections, four swing arms, base runners, a bagged hardware set and a hex key.
- Assembly is bolted throughout. Nothing is welded, drilled or cut on site, which keeps installation inside a hotel receiving bay rather than a workshop.
- Fit the base runners first, then attach the four swing arms, and only then mount the seat frame. Tighten all bolts fully after the arms are aligned, because a glider tightened arm by arm can track to one side.
- Set the chair on a level, hard surface and leave clearance at the front and back for the glide travel. Keep rugs, gravel and loose mats away from the runners.
- Two people are advisable for the bench during the frame lift; the single glider can be assembled by one person.
- Re-check bolt tension after the first week of use, then once a season. That is the only maintenance an outdoor rocking glider chair asks for.
Applications
- Hotel terraces and pool decks – One glider specification, two footprints, so a terrace can mix single seats and benches without a visual clash.
- Garden and courtyard seating – The two-seat glider bench works as the conversation piece; the single glider takes the reading corner.
- Balcony and apartment terrace – The single outdoor rocking glider chair fits where a full bench will not, and still gives the gliding motion.
- Parks, resorts and courtyards – The bench holds two people on a fixed base, which suits public areas where furniture cannot be allowed to drift.
- E-commerce and DTC outdoor ranges – Flat-pack cartons, mail-order packing and a shared spare-parts list keep a two-model listing simple to operate.
- Clubhouses, spas and wellness lawns – The gliding motion suits quiet seating areas where guests sit for long periods.
- Mixed containers – Both models load alongside other outdoor furniture lines, so a first order can test the range without committing to a full container of one SKU.

Packing & Logistics
- Flat-pack export cartons: frame sections wrapped, mesh sleeved, hardware bagged and labelled separately so a missing bolt does not stop a shipment.
- Shockproof and moisture-proof packing is standard for sea freight, and the outer carton is opened and re-checked before release.
- Carton marking — model, quantity, measurements and country of origin — is verified against the shipping documents as part of final inspection.
- Bulk orders ship by sea. Samples ship by air or courier and are usually quoted separately.
- Quotations are issued FOB or CIF against your nominated port; loading quantity per 40HQ is confirmed per model at order.
- The outdoor rocking glider chair can share a container with other outdoor lines, which is how most first orders are built.

- ISO 9001 quality management system, certified to GB/T 19001-2016 / ISO 9001:2015 and applied across incoming material, in-process and pre-shipment control.
- amfori BSCI social compliance audit, which covers the factory for European retail and supermarket programmes.
- SGS third-party testing, with material, mechanical and durability reports supplied to buyers for retail entry.
- FSC-certified sourcing at factory level, used for packaging and wood-based components.
- USPTO-registered US trademark, which protects the brand position in the North American market.
- Three-stage inspection on every order: IQC on incoming tube, mesh and hardware, IPQC patrols through welding and powder coating, OQC random sampling before the container is sealed.
Q: What is the difference between the two models? A: Seating capacity and seat construction. Model A is a single outdoor rocking glider chair with a padded solid seat panel and a mesh back. Model B is a two-seat glider bench with continuous mesh across the seat and back, split by a central frame bar into two panels. Frame, glider arms, base and hardware are shared.
Q: Is this a rocking chair or a glider? A: It is a glider. Four pivoting swing arms hang the seat from a stationary base, so the motion is horizontal forward and back rather than the arc of a curved rocker. That is why the chair works on tile and decking, where a rocker would tip and travel.
Q: Will the glider move across the patio while in use? A: No. The base runners stay on the floor and only the seat frame swings. Plastic glides under the runners protect tile and composite decking, and the chair does not need repositioning after use.
Q: Can we match frame and mesh colours to our own range? A: Yes. Matte black is the standard frame finish, with RAL matching on volume orders, and the mesh is selected from the factory's swatch programme covering the W1887, XN and BLEND colour series. Private-label patches fit the backrest area on Model A.
Q: What are the MOQ and lead times? A: MOQ is negotiable and sample orders are accepted first. A sample takes about 7 days and a bulk order about 30 days. Quotations are returned within 24 hours, FOB or CIF against your nominated port.
